Bob Christie was one of the four co-founders of the Wilderness Education Association whoshared a common vision concerning the development of outdoor leadership and the role of education in the preservation of this country’s wild land areas. In 1977, born from their vision was the Wilderness Education Association, designed to train outdoor leaders. Early in his career, Bob worked at the National Camp, the leading outdoor education and leadership training school in the nation, under the direction of L.B. Sharp—the pioneer of outdoor/camping education. In addition to his involvement as a WEA Board of Trustees member, Bob continued his work in organized camping, outdoor equipment development, higher education curriculum development for outdoor leadership and interpretative naturalists, and directed a high adventure canoe base for the Boy Scouts of America.
