Accreditation Billing 2010 - Provisional Accreditation

As the WEA transitions to Accreditation this year,  Affiliates will notice that the pricing structure for Accreditation fees varries depending on the level of desired accreditation.  The fee structure is as follows:

Steward Accreditation Annual Fee: $250
Outdoor Leader Accrediation Annual Fee: $550
Steward Instructor Accreditation Annual Fee: $625
Outdoor Leader Instructor Accreditation Annual Fee: $625

The annual accreditation fee billing cycle is transitioning to operate in line with the WEA Annual fiscal year.  During this transition the Board of Trustees approved a 6 month extension on 2010 Affiliate fees for all Accredited Institutions.  Accredited-Provisional institutions will be billed for Annual accreditation fees in March of 2010 with the total due by the end of June 2010.

The membership structure of the WEA is changing along with the accreditation transition.  Due to the changes in the WEA membership structure beginning in March '10, accreditation fees will no longer include a complimentary professional membership for the Affiliate Representative of that accredited institution.   Current Affiliate representatives will be granted a membership extension commensurate with the Affiliate fee extension.  Affiliate representatives will need to renew separate from the Accreditation fees using the new Membership structure no later than the first of June 2010.

Because the amount of the annual accreditation fees differ among the accreditation levels, all current Affiliates must submit a Letter of Application for Provisional status or fill out the online form.  This will allow the National Office to bill accurately and to maintain up to date records of the transition status of each Affiliate.  The deadline for submitting the letter or the form has been extended to February 28, 2010.  Each of the Accreditation levels have specific requirements for current Affiliates to be listed in Provisional status.  The letter/form that is submitted must include the appropriate information that shows the current Affiliate meets the requirements for the accreditation level they are seeking for provisional status.  Please review these requirements prior to submitting a letter or completing the form.

At this point in time, all current Affiliates (as of 2009) have been sent multiple messages via direct mail, direct email and the Member Access Newsletter.  Some of the main content recieved should include:
  • Letter with Schedule for Accreditation (including preliminary accreditation applcation and self study)
  • Copy of the Preliminary Accreditation Application
  • Copy of the Accreditation Manual
These are important documents that each affiliate stakeholder should take the time to read.  The timelines assigned are meant to keep the WEA and it's current Affiliates organized as we work to transition over 40 institutions into the new accreditation system over the next 4 years.  If you are unsure of your institutions accreditation schedule please contact Mary Williams (wea@indiana.edu).
