The 2010 National Conference on Outdoor Leadership was, a fantastic success! Thank you to the Estes Park provided a beautiful backdrop for the event and the YMCA of the Rockies brand new conference center was a near perfect set up for our annual event! With the Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA) as co-host for the second year in a row, the event offered 35 workshops for attendees over the two days of the main event. With presentations covering accreditation concepts, gender issues, staff training, risk management conflict resolution, and more, attendees were given a variety of learning and sharing opportunities. With 245 people in attendance, the 2010 event drew the largest number of attendees to date! With many outdoor focused conferences seeing significant decreases in attendee numbers this fall, the outstanding showing by many of our affiliates is a great demonstration of support for the association. Many new organizations and individuals rounded out the attendees and we look forward to continued growth in 2011. Committee Meetings were well attended as Committee Chairs brought in to focus how each committee plays into the strategic plan of the association. We look forward to seeing some good work come from our volunteer committees in the next year! One of the highlights of the event was the annual Auction and Raffle that benefits the Kitty Drury Scholarship Fund. Hang on to your hats folks, because the 245 amazing people in attendance raised over $10,000 (yes, you read that correctly and it isn't a typo!). With Jessie Rome at the helm of acquiring donations for the event, the entire stage was covered in some pretty amazing wares. Jim Lustig kept things moving as items large and small were distributed to winning ticket holders and highest bidders. Cheryl Teeters came through again for our students by matching raffle ticket purchases with a buy two get one free deal. Thank you Cheryl for your amazing support of our student attendees! And a huge "THANK YOU!" to each and every person who purchased a raffle ticket or bid on an auction item. Your generosity is astounding and future students will have each of you to thank!
