Certification is throughthe Wilderness Medicine Training Center (WMTC) WMTC Wilderness First Aid workshops are designed to introduce participants to the concepts of medical care in a wilderness setting. The course focuses on Basic Life Support skills, minor trauma and selected environmental topics, the focused spine assessment and ruling out process, and allergic & toxic reactions.This course is a WMTC Distance Learning Project (DLP) course. You will receive WMTC's water-proof handbook, a data DVD, and access to an on-line text. You must pass the on-line test prior to attending the the practical session. Click here for details WMTC WFA certifications are accepted by the American Camping Association (ACA) for camp programs that are close to standard EMS assistance and by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) including Philmont Scout Ranch. While the course includes instruction in adult CPR techniques, due to time constraints CPR certification is not included.The course may be used to recertify current WAFA, WFR, and WEMT certifications from accepted wilderness medicine providers. We have direct reciprocity with Wilderness Medicine Outfitters (WMO), First Lead, Aerie Backcountry Medicine, Desert Mountain Medicine (DMM), Sierra Rescue, Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO), Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS (WMI), and Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA).
