Back by popular demand! Join us for a two-day Pre-Conference Workshop that will explore the ins and outs of custom outdoor gear. We will be working to produce our own equipment throughout the workshop, giving you the opportunity to build your own take-home stuff sack and waterproof backpack liner. Register before January 24th to ensure that we will have the supplies on hand for everyone to take home a pack liner and stuff sack. You will also have the opportunity to take part in building a 'major' DIY Outdoor Equipment project that will be auctioned-off at the Kitty Drury Scholarship Auction/ Raffle on Saturday night!
Frank Vernon is an all-around nerd for the outdoors. He got his start in making gear a few years ago, and his backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, tarps, clothing, and miscellaneous equipment creations have been tested on glaciers, rivers, rocks, forest, and ocean. Sometimes successful, always fun!
Nick Haberak got his start making outdoor gear recently, and has quickly focused his attention on clothing. His work includes insulated vests, shirts, and pants- all with the flavor you'd expect from an intelligent outdoorsperson.
Lindsay Henderson has been making equipment in the UP, especially focusing on gear that can handle the harsh winter climate she loves to explore. Pieces she has made include: backpacks, pull sleds, and waterproof map cases.
